I used to live in Florida… It was just brutal.
I thought I would savor the heat and enjoy no snow. Turns out, I would rather be too hot than too cold anyday. The Florida heat and humidity was just horrible. I was sweaty and sticky all year long. I kept waiting for the weather to cool down. I couldn’t toil outside in our gardens, go for a run or even enjoy our apartment swimming pool. The heat made it impossible to just breathe. Moving to Spokane Washington was a single of the best decisions I ever made, for a single, the summers are so mild; September is basically the only week that you need an a/c. It is nice since I only bother with a window a/c in our family room and a portable A/C device in our family room. It is cheap and effective for cooling in our area. The winters are blatantly much colder in Washington. I don’t mind them at all. I can go outside and breathe normally. I just need to bundle up a bit and keep moving. I am able to rake our leaves, weed our gardens and run in the cold air much easier. I particularly savor that I can rely on our apartment heating method too. In Florida I just ran the A/C all year except for the dead of winter. My heating system hardly got used! Now in Washington, 4 to 5 weeks of the year our heating component absolutely gets to work. It is wonderful working outside in the cold and then coming into the toasty warm home and standing by our fireplace.
