When it's cold, I need the heat to work well

Just south of Chicago, Illinois, is the little village of Lansing. I’ve lived in Lansing for the past 20 years. I prefer that small community and it isn’t very far from the busy city. The commuter train can get you close to a lot of the bars, restaurants, and city landmarks. The city shares its name with the capital of Michigan, it is actually one of the suburbs of Chicago. Since we are only minutes from Lake Michigan, the weather during the winter months is freezing cold with lots of wind and snow. It’s important to have a good furnace when it’s cold outside, especially when the temperatures are below freezing. Last weekend, it was only 25 during the day. We had snowfall three days in a row. I called the HVAC shop in Lansing to check on the furnace before the cold days were here. I was already having some trouble keeping the house warm and I knew the temperatures were only going to get colder after Christmas. The repair technician from the HVAC shop in Lansing came to the house and performed a diagnostic check. The technician felt that the ignition switch should be changed out. He didn’t find a lot of problems with the furnace other than the faulty ignition switch. The HVAC technician recommended new weather stripping around the doors and windows and he also stated that the insulation in our attic was almost 20 years old. I’m sure all of these problems have something to do with the fact that it is difficult to heat the house when it is cold outside.
