During the annual festival of balloons, Albuquerque is genuinely busy, but the city is filled with tourists, however all of the hotels, motels, and bed and supper sites are booked solid.
- A lot of folks travel to the area in their RV and they stay outside of the city in the desert! It’s genuinely free to stay in the desert if you have your own mobile home.
The desert hot and cold temperatures can be quite boiling and uncomfortable, especially with no electricity and no access to central AC, and my business was genuinely tied up this year during the festival, outdoor hot and cold temperatures were close to 90° and a lot of people had trouble with the a/c. I had a dozen weird calls from purchasers that week. A lot of A/C units had a hard time keeping up with the daytime hot and cold temperatures. It was one of the warmest weeks of the year, and people were not ready to run the a/c nonstop, during the week of the balloon festival, I received $8,000 just on routine A/C repairs. That amount was double the amount I made in the previous several weeks. One call came from a client that was staying in their RV in the desert. The client had a solar method setup to run the AC, but on that particular day, the solar method wasn’t working. The client called our Heating and A/C repair shop to see if we could help and I was cheerful to lend assistance. I sent a tech to the address after he finished up with a repair in downtown Albuquerque.
