The bridge was icy and we nearly went over the side

My boyfriend and I were leaving Evansville one night and it was very cold, dark, and late in the evening.

I really couldn’t see much at all in front of the car, because it was snowing heavily.

We probably should have stayed at my mom’s house in Evansville instead of trying to drive all the way back home at the end of the day. It was cold and icy. We were crossing the bridge into town and it was very icy and slippery. A deer appeared out of nowhere and my boyfriend swerved to miss the deer. We hit a patch of ice and started sliding and skidding. We ran into the side of the bridge. We almost went over the side. The car was completely wrecked. Smoke and steam were coming out of the area where the engine is located. We tried to call AAA, but there was no answer. We tried a couple of times before we finally got someone to answer the phone. We had to contact a tow truck driver to pick us up and take the car to the mechanic. While we waited for the tow truck driver to arrive, my boyfriend and I turned on the heat in the car. The car would not run and it was not going to go anywhere, but we still had heat because the battery was working. We let the heat run the whole time we were waiting for the tow truck driver to arrive. We were warm and comfortable the whole time we waited for help to come from Evansville.
